Richard "Poppy" Spencer

Family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-6:00pm at the church.

Graveside services will be at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017, Beaumont, Texas , Forrest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Spencer passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Tyler after a long battle with cancer. He was born on December 14, 1936 in Nevada, Missouri, to the late Harold Paul and Ida Beth Spencer. He was a graduate of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla. After graduating he moved to Port Arthur and worked for Texaco in the chemical research division. Then after retiring, Poppy and Meme moved to Bullard where he has lived for the past 21 years. He was an active member of Woodworkers of East Texas and the First United Methodist Church of Bullard.

He is survived by his children Stacie King, of Trinity, Keith Spencer and wife Theresa, of Missouri and Beth Anne Geesing and husband Russell, of Bullard.

Mr. Spencer is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Renee Johnsen and fiance Kevin Meneley, Jessica Geesing, Sarah Geesing and Forrest Spencer and two great-grandchildren, Austin Johnsen and Branson Meneley.
