Memorial services for Robert Dean “Bob” Coughenour, 77, of Tyler are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Tyler, TX with Father Jack Russell officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Coughenour passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in Tyler, TX.
He was born on September 19, 1932 in Pittsburg, KS to the late Owren Milo and Margaret Emily Widner Coughenour. Bob graduated from Pittsburg High School, Pittsburg, KS and attended Pittsburg State College on a football scholarship. In 1953 he married Gloria Sue Shultz. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co., Bartlesville, OK, Stubbs Overbeck, Pampa, TX, Monsanto Chemical Co., St. Louis, MO. The last 24 years of his working career were spent at Howe-Baker Engineering in Tyler, TX. Bob served in the Naval Reserve and was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Tyler the Masonic Lodge, Pittsburg, KS, Scottish Rite, Waco, TX and Sharon Shrine, Tyler, TX. He and Gloria enjoyed traveling, first by motorcycle and later by motor home. They have visited all fifty states.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Janet Beth Grill.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Shultz Coughenour; daughter, Tracey Lynn Coughenour of League City, TX; son Robert Dean Coughenour Jr. and wife Cindy of Wichita, KS; son-in-law, William Grill of Lenexa, KS; granddaughters, Sarah Radomsky of St. Paul, MN and Emily Coughenour of League City, TX; grandsons, Nathan Grill of Lenexa, Ks and Trey, Travis and Tyler Coughenour of Wichita, KS and great grandchildren, Aneka, Eli and Samantha Radomsky of St. Paul, MN.
