
Ronald graduated from high school in Booker, TX in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. While stationed at Fort Hood, TX he met Joyce Snow on a blind date. They married on August 9, 1956 at Andice, Texas. After their marriage the couple moved to the Texas panhandle where Ronald worked in the oil and gas industry at facilities in Borger, Perryton and Dumas, TX. They moved to Pittsburg, Texas in 1982 where they managed the Ferndale Fishing Club for many years and enjoyed living on Lake Bob Sandlin. They moved to Tyler in 2020 to be closer to family. Ronald was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Ronald was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 69 years Joyce Rutz of Tyler, son Glenn Rutz and wife Lori Rutz of Tyler, daughter Lisa Kruger and husband Rocky Kruger of Emory, son Lyndon Rutz and wife Kelly
Rutz of Riverton, WY, and daughter Kim Rutz Charnetzsky and wife Lesha Charnetzsky of Tuscon, AZ and sister Verna Lynn Goldsmith of Springdale, Arkansas; grandchildren Hailey Bearden and husband
Harlan Bearden, Aaron Rutz and wife Heather Rutz, Travis Rutz and wife Amanda Rutz, Jeffrey Rutz, and Cody Rutz; great grandchildren Braydon Bearden, Asher Bearden, Annie Bearden, and Annora
Rutz; and several nieces and a nephew.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Watkins-Logan TSVH and Heart to Heart Hospice for the love and care that was provided to our loved one.
Funeral services for Ronald Rutz are scheduled for 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 10th at Fairwood United Methodist Church in Tyler with burial and graveside services to be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas at 2:00 pm.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9 at 6-8 pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1101 E. 1st St., Tyler, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairwood United Methodist Church, 1712 Old Omen Rd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
