Roy passed away on January 22, 2019 in Tyler.

He was born on September 28, 1934 in Hill County, Texas to the late Jim and Minnie Peters.

Roy was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He graduated from Roberts High School in Tyler and then entered into the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959 when he was honorably discharged. During this time, he traveled the world on the USS Ticonderoga. He was very proud of his time served. After the service, he worked in Tyler in the construction industry. He later went into business for himself doing commercial lawn and landscape. Roy was a hard worker and worked full time until he was 78 years old. The last year and a half he lived at Providence Park where he liked to talk to everyone who came in the door. He also enjoyed serving coffee to the other residents in the morning. He had a sense of humor that was all his own. We believe that this brought joy to his family as well as many others and we will remember him with love.

He is survived by his son Roy Dean Peters and wife Debbie of Carrolton, Texas; his daughter Kimberly Kea and husband Rusty of Tyler, Texas; his grandchildren Austin R. Peters of Allen, Texas, Carson S Peters of Allen, Texas, Kasey C. Wallace and husband Jared from Houston, Texas, Lindsey M. Newton and husband Samuel from Eustace, Texas, Jacob R. Kea of Tyler, Texas, Tyler, Mallory J. Kea, Tyler, Texas; his great-grandchildren Cora K. Wallace, Quinn E. Wallace, Asa J. Newton, Jude M. Newton, Selah J. Newton and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his 3 brothers; his 2 sisters; his wife Emogene Scruggs Peters (1989) and wife Martha Moore Peters (2013).

Pallbearers will be Austin Peters, Carson Peters, Jacob Kea, Jared Wallace and Samuel Newton.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2019 in the chapel at Lloyd James Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the care givers at Providence Park in Tyler.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter's (2nd wife), were my mama's neighbors in Chapel Hill. She was handicapped and they always were checking on her and that was so very much appreciated by our family. May God comfort your family and friends in his passing.

He was my favorite Uncle. I was so honored that he stood up for Me to give me away to James at Our Wedding...He will be missed but I will away have him in my Heart and Love him forever.

Roy loved his family. He was a man of few words unless he was teasing or joking with you. In his eyes there was always a sparkle as he watched his great grandchildren running all around him. His pride and joy was his son and daughter and their children. He was always happy in their presence. I know he is happy watching all of you from his place in God’s Paridise today. May each memory bring you comfort and peace. All is well with Roy.

Roy was my favorite uncle. He had his sense of humor throughout his life. He has completed his family now & they are having their family reunion. He is rejoicing with some family members he hardly knew and carrying on his sense of humor.
