Services for Sam M. Forsgard Jr., 91, of Tyler are scheduled for 10:00am, Friday, February 20, 2015 at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerry Giles and Bro. Joe Canal officiating. Burial will in Cathedral in the Pines under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Forsgard passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Tyler surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on January 31, 1924, in Waco to the late Sam M. Forsgard Sr. and Bernice Wilkie Forsgard. He attended Waco public schools and received his degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University. Mr. Forsgard was an Air Force Veteran of WW II. He had lived in Tyler since 1952 and was director of personnel and labor relations at Western Foundry and Bonar Packaging Inc., having retired from Bonar in 1992. He served as president or a board member of various professional, civic and charitable organizations.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Davis Forsgard in 1979; and son, Sam A. Forsgard in 2006.
He is survived by his current wife, LaDelle Forsgard; daughter, Susan E. Forsgard, both of Tyler; sisters, Sylvia Vaughan of Garland and Ann Marie McDonald of San Angelo; and several nieces and grandnieces.
Pallbearers are Bill Ruby, Bob Shamburger, Dick Rubin, John Spencer, Tony Mourelatos and Joe Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Cooke, Michael Lydon, Charlie Fields and Jeff Martin.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the funeral home.
