Shirley Anne Negem

Shirley was born on April 29, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, to Carrie Satel Estefan and Alek Estefan. She attended Alamo Heights schools and Incarnate Word.

Shirley married the love of her life, Jimmy Donald Negem, at Saint George Maronite Catholic Church in San Antonio. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, family, and devotion.

A beloved mother, Shirley is survived by her five children: son Ernest (Jeri); daughters Candice Wilcox (Mike) and Tina Vaughn (Paul); and sons Chris and Jimmy Negem. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy. Shirley loved her many nieces and nephews and was grateful for the special friendship she shared with Edward Roberts.

Shirley treasured time spent with friends, especially playing Mahjong and Shanghai Rummy. She was an excellent cook, preparing many Lebanese dishes that filled the family dining table during holidays and special occasions. She also loved to travel and enjoyed experiencing places and cultures around the world.

Shirley was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, which remained an important part of her life and family.

The family extends special thanks to Shirley's caregivers, Angelica Martin and Angel Williams, for their kindness and devoted care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with Fr. Hank Lanik officiating. Burial will follow the Funeral Mass, with a reception afterward at the Cathedral Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or Hospice of East Texas.
