Sonia attended Tyler Catholic School and Tyler Junior College. She was a proud member of the Apache Bells. Professionally, she worked as an office clerk at Medical and Surgical Clinic. Her favorite work, however, was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and especially a great-grandmother. She cherished her long-time neighbors and friends and will be remembered for her beauty, both inside and out.
A lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, Sonia’s faith sustained her through the difficulties of life. She was an active member of the Cedars of Lebanon, the Catholic Daughters, and the Altar Society.

Honorary pallbearers will be Layton Spence, John T. Saleh, and Ronald Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County (3531 S. Broadway, Tyler, Tx 75701) or Hospice of East Texas (4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Tx 75701).
The family would like to extend heart-felt gratitude to Ronnie Martin for the constant love and care of both our mom and our dad over the years. Ronnie has been like a son to them and a big brother to us, helping in ways we could never repay.
The family also wishes to thank Sophia Sheppard for her loving care of their mom following the death of their dad only a few months back, as well as the staff at Prestige Estates for the love and care they provided during the last months of her life. She made very special friends upon arrival, and those friendships gave comfort to us as we saw the joy she experienced while there. The family also expresses gratitude to Hospice of East Texas for their excellent care.
