

Thelma Wickham Johnson passed peacefully on May 8, 2015 at the age of 103 in Austin, Texas. A native Texan, Thelma was born December 11th, 1911 in Terrell, Texas and was the daughter of James Albert Wickham and Elizabeth Jane Salmon Wickham, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by sisters Ila Carpenter Wickham and Opal Wickham; and brothers James W. and Lon D. Wickham.
Thelma was the wife of Thomas Lamar (Boody) Johnson of Tyler, Texas. Thelma and Boody were happily married for 62 years until his death in 1993. Thelma is survived by her son, James Lamar Johnson of Austin; grandchildren Michelle Wilde of Kirkwood, Mo.; Jennifer Schultz of O’Fallon, Mo.; Melissa Kostecki of Frisco, Texas; and Matthew Johnson of San Francisco, Ca. She also leaves behind two nieces: Carmen McTaggart , and Cindy Peel, both of Dallas, Texas. Thelma was also the proud great grandmother of 8 great grandchildren.
Thelma was a special lady in the true southern tradition. She spent her life ensuring her family was well cared for, loved, and followed her Christian beliefs and values. She was extremely active in the women’s Sunday school class at Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler, and volunteered extensively in elementary through high schools in Tyler.
She will be missed by all those she has touched. A life well lived!
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Rose Hill Cemetery.
