Maj. Timothy Curtis Gill, MS, USAF (Ret.) was born December 7, 1951 in Galveston, Texas and passed away on November 26, 2022 in Tyler. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jesse Gill; son, Christopher Gill; granddaughter, Hannah Gill and daughter-in-law, Holli Gill; daughter, Sarah Gill and daughter-in-law, Katherine Kester.
He was preceded by his mother, Josephine San Martino Gill and father, James T. Gill.
Timothy’s Career and accomplishments include 20 years service in the US Air Force, and he retired as Major in 1993. He earned his Master’s degree in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado-Boulder, 1985. He served Tyler Junior College Computer & Networking Technology Department for 29 years (1993-present), held position of Department Chair.
Tim was a Proud seventh-generation Texan. He lived a life full of travel with his wife, Jesse. Their journey began in 1977 when they met and married while both stationed at Misawa Air Base in Misawa, Japan. Together they would move through eight US Air Force bases on three continents before building a beautiful and loving home in Whitehouse, Texas. Tim would continue to seek adventure in new places on his own as well as with his family, most recently traveling to Yucatan, Mexico and Arches National Park, Moab, Utah.
Anyone who knows Tim is well-aware of his life-long passion for music, from marching with the Texas City High School Stinger Band to playing keyboards and singing lead in party bands from Japan, to Germany, Biloxi, Mississippi as well as East Texas. While his family has lost count of the albums he collected and concerts he attended, his children inherited his love and appreciation for great music, if not his talent for performance.
Chris and Sarah also shared their dad’s devotion to the Dallas Cowboys. The family spent many Sundays and Thanksgivings together cheering on (and on occasion yelling at) their favorite team.
Tim was enormously proud to volunteer with Texas CASA as a court-appointed special advocate for children. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Tim is invited to make a donation in his memory here. Texas CASA (default) (clickandpledge.com)
A service to celebrate Tim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022 at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.
