A family graveside service for Velma Alice Heath of Tyler will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma with family members officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Tyler Holt House, Glenwood Church of Christ and all lovers of art, crafts and reading lost a true friend on Wednesday. Velma is remembered at Holt House as a fun loving completive game player and gracious supporter. Like husband Charles (1913-1983), she too served in leadership roles for churches in Tulsa, OK, Huntingdon Valley, PA and Tyler. She participated in World Bible School services, mission trips to Budapest, Hungry, Latin America and several local educational programs. Velma achieved awards in art, especially for works in watercolor. She holds a special place in hearts of neighbors, fellow travelers and especially family. She excelled in all aspects of homemaking.
Velma is survived by daughter Janet Heath Helgesen of Tyler, son Larry Heath and wife Charlotte of Montrose, CO; five grandchildren Alise Fish, husband James, Bryan Helgesen, wife Jeanna, Craig Helgesen, Bethany Ward, husband Jason, and Jonathan Heath. Six great-grandaughters, Leanne, Lennea Fish, Kendra, Breanna, Hanna, Emma Helgesen. Two great-grandsons Colton Ward and Bryan Charles Helgesen.
