

Services for Virginia Edwards LaRue, of Tyler, will be held
at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, December 13, 2010, at 11 a.m.,
under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Stuart
Baskin, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Mrs. LaRue passed away on December 11, 2010, in Tyler. She was born
on March 10, 1914, in Grand Saline, Texas, to James Alexander Edwards
and Nell Dorough Edwards. The family later moved to Terrell, Texas.
She was a graduate of T.M.C. College in Terrell, and later attended
Baylor University. In 1935, she married Dillard Robert LaRue, and moved
to Tyler in 1937.
Mrs. LaRue became active in church and club work, attending First
Presbyterian Church and Women’s Bible Study Circle. She also was a
member of The Criterion Literary Club, The Gertrude Windsor Garden
Club, and The Mary Tyler Chapter of The Daughters of the American
Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dillard Robert
LaRue, who died July 29, 1992.

Survivors include her three children: a son, John Dillard LaRue, Sr., and
daughter-in-law, Sylvia Mack LaRue of Dallas, daughters: Nancy LaRue
Westmoreland and son-in-law, Steve Westmoreland, of Austin, and Betty
LaRue Burkett and son-in-law, Tom Burkett of Houston.
Other survivors are her eight grandchildren: Cecile LaRue, Celeste LaRue
Ehrenberger, and Denise LaRue Turfitt, John Dillard LaRue, Jr., Trey
Graham, Amy Graham, Shannon Burkett, and Jennifer Burkett Pearce.
Great grandchildren are Cole Scott, Bailey and Emily Turfitt, Ryleigh
LaRue, Molly Graham, Britton and Drayton Pearce. Two nephews are
David Edwards of Albuquerque, and James Matthew Cartwright of Austin.

Tyler, or a charity of one’s choice.
