The Life of -Billie- Mrs. James W. Doggett Jr.

Funeral services for Billie are scheduled for 1 pm, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler.

She was born, June 13, 1922 in Mt. Vernon, Texas in Franklin County to her loving Christian parents, H.H. and Mamie Stephens Matthews. She is the youngest of five children: Alma Matthews Banks, Charlie Matthews, M.C. Matthews, and Mildred Matthews Cooley, who all preceded her in death, as well as her husband and a host of family and friends

She married James W. Doggett Jr. on December 22, 1944.

Billie graduated from Winfield, Texas High School, and later became a cosmetologist.

Jim and Billie were long time members at Central Baptist Church, Tyler. They served as Sunday school workers and choir members. They also owned their own business, “Doggett Electrons Service Shop”, where she was the front desk clerk. When Jim died on November 4, 1984, she went back to work as a cosmetologist at “Lloyd James Funeral Home” for quite a while.

She has left here on earth to enjoy a happier life with her family and a host of friends.

In honor of her husband, she has a yard of over 400 azaleas as a “Memory Garden” to the one and only “Love” of her life-that she would tell you-has helped her keep going all these years.

She was a Christian and Loved the Lord.
