i miss alfonso more and mire every year …. his absence is a huge void …he was always there for me and my connection with him is irreplaceable…. see you again my very good friend….

Alfonso was such a warm sweet caring person. He use to train me and always took the time out to explain everything. They don’t make people like this anymore. A world class person. Thank you Alfonso for being that person. You will be missed

I just saw the post from East Coast Fitness with awesome pictures of Alfonso.  I’ve been working out all my life since about 8 years old and throughout my life I’ve been to gyms throughout the late 70s till today AND the best results I’ve ever gotten in my entire 58 years including reading  books and training with experienced ppl was when I joined Alfonso’s gym in 1992 on 61st st WNY.  I told Alfonso I couldn’t pass 225 in bench and squat and never weighed more than 180lbs.  Alfonso got me to 325 bench & 415 squat naturally and weighing a muscular 210!  The best human being ever! 

I’ve just read this and can’t believe it. Such a lovely bloke; Al trained me for a few years in Union City. Always upbeat; clearly a massive family man and so knowledgeable about life and, especially, the gym. Best wishes from the UK.

I met Alfonso in 1988 at Unlimited Fitness as a new member.. He walked in the gym intimidated but Alfonso made me  feel at ease. He saw the potential in me and started training me in powerlifting . I became part of the powerlifting team - we were a strong force to be reckoned with.  I gained knowledge, discipline and most of all a love of the sport. May my gracious Lord grant him eternal peace in the big gym up of Heaven. Condolences to his family- Danny Gutierrez 

I met Alfonso in 2012, And from day one I saw how much he cared about the youth in the gym. He helped me and so many others with his amazing knowledge when it came to health and fitness. He always guided everyone with the best and safest directions, especially if it was a younger person. Alfonso used to stay until 11pm almost every night at East Coast Muscle and Fitness, teaching, laughing and hanging out with the guys.  As a young man you don’t appreciate and see how much he cared but fast forward to now as an adult I truly appreciated you!! And always will. 
RIP. Master Yoda, God has a wonderful place for you in his kingdom. God bless and my condolences to Alfonso’s family. He is a legend!  

I met Alfonso in 1986 as a 15yr old in the Unlimited Fitness Gym on 62nd Street off of Kennedy Blvd. He would write outnworkout for me in my black Marble Notebook. That started my lifelong love and journey for working out. Alfonso mentored, coached, & helped many young kids. Thank you for your help and may you RIP in Gods Kingdom. My condolences and prayers for the family.

The world has lost a great man. A very caring man , a friend to all.  The best trainer, it was a joy to wake up early in the morning and knowing that you will get the best training possible and that you would go home after the training with more knowledge than you had before the training.
