As I sit here and write this, I can't even find the words or make up my mind on where to start in remembering Allen. There were so many memories. While Allen was without a doubt a leader at work that fought for his team and sought to bring out the best in them, that in itself was only one of his finer qualities. Allen was one of the most devoted and thoughtful men that I have ever known in my life. I owe my career to Allen, because when no one believed in me or gave me a shot in the beginning, Allen was the one that fought for me. Intelligent, hard working and funny as hell. One of my funniest memories of Al was when we shared an office together and I would always be tapping out drum beats on my desk. Al goes "I'm going to get you a Conga drum, that banging on your desk is driving me crazy!". Sure enough, he brought me a shiny red conga as a gift, needless to say I was in heaven after that lol! That's the type of person that Allen was, he was thoughtful, generous and would take the time to do things for people "just because". He took pleasure in moments like this where he saw his friends and family happy. The little smile on his face was indicative of that. There were plenty of times where Al and I had deep philosophical talks about family, love and life. I learned a great deal from his wisdom and feel privileged to have had him confide many things with me. He was sympathetic and loved his children very, very much. He worked hard but also remembered to play hard. I hadn't spoken to Allen in quite some time, and didn't learn about his passing until I heard through a mutual brother in friendship (David Fernandez). I deeply regret that. This to me is a reminder that tomorrow is never promised and that one should never take a true friendship for granted. Rest in peace my brother from another mother. You've worked hard, now it's time to take a permanent break in heaven. Until we meet again.

Allen was an extraordinary person and unique. Always went out of his way to put others before himself. He was always the problem solver. Loved to joke around, laugh, and never let the most negative situation in life get the best of him. Stood positive and strong always no matter what. I have known him for about 7 years and worked with him for 3 years in the MET Team @Home Depot. Family was precious and always a priority for him. My deepest condolences to the family and pray that God will bring comfort of peace. You will for forever be missed my brother.
