I love and miss you my beautiful loving mom in Heaven.  I miss your beautiful smile and your loving ways that made me feel like I was the most important person in the world.  You are missed every day, but I still feel your love and presence especially during troubling times that brings a smile to my face and sense of peace. Beverly took me on my first trip to Hawaii when I was 18 years old. We had a blast and I never forgot that trip. We had so much fun especially since she traveled a lot and knew all the ins and outs. I am so sad for her loss.

I'm in the process of sharing my mom's life story but I've had to break it into Parts.  I've shared 3 Parts thus far and I'm roughly half way through.  I'm going to pause for several days to let folks read and get caught up before submitting additional Parts.  In the mean time, I'd like to add an additional piece of mom's history.  Mom was a bit of a Fashion Icon with cutting edge Hairstyles.  Mom and her hairdresser Vincent won several Hairstyle awards with their creative looks.  Also during mom's Eastern Airline days, she won Awards like "Miss Eastern Airlines" and "Miss Interliner".  Check out the attached photo.  There are so many of these that my Sister and I found in her Photo Albums.

Part 3:  Mom also went to the very troubled Country of South Vietnam in December of 1966 to spend Christmas with my Uncle Robert who was part of the Army Air Calvary during the Vietnam War.  I know my mom and the family were so very happy that my Uncle Robert was able to return home from the War safe and sound.  I like to think mom got her adventurous traits from her Norwegian background where the Vikings are notoriously known for their World travels.  My mom’s Paternal Grandparents were born in Grimstadt, Norway before emigrating to the United States through Ellis Island at the turn of the 20th Century.  I also think this was how my mom and the Hansen family were able to take “baths” in the “ice box” which was freezing cold waterfall creek water in the Catskill Mountains Glens Falls House Resort where they spent many family summers together.  My mom and I were able to travel to Norway together in 2011 and explored this beautiful amazing country together to better understand our family roots.  It is an experience that I will keep near and dear to my heart for the rest of my life.  I will always remember my mom commenting that she better understood why the family emigrated – although very beautiful and scenic, Norway can be a very harsh and unforgiving place particularly during Winter.
The one thing that mattered most to mom was Family.  Everything else was second.  My mom was trusting, caring, loving, kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and responsible and she passed on all these traits to us.  All these excellent traits I owe to my mom.  Mom always thought if you did a job, you did it right and you did it right the first time.  She thought it was important for me to go out and earn my own money to appreciate hard work and I learned how to contribute to society in a productive manner.  Mom firmly believed in being productive as possible while always making time for family fun and enjoyment.  

Part 2 of my tribute to Mom:  When you met my mom there were certain amazing qualities about her that just leaped out at you:  Her beautiful golden-blonde hair, those loving blue-green eyes, her mega-watt smile, and her infectious loving laugh that just sucked me in every time.  When people compliment me and my siblings about our smile and friendly disposition I always think about my Mom!  Mom also had the most caring loving spirit that she shared with all those that met her.  When I was with my mom particularly later in life, my mom was like a beautiful little bird that you just wanted to hold carefully in the palm of your hands and never let go.  It was always a very Spiritual experience for me when I was with my mom and that will continue for me with my mom up in Heaven right now.
After mom graduated from High School in 1961, she went on to work as the Executive Secretary to the President of Eastern Air Lines in NYC.  Our Cousin Marilyn Hams (who is now 91 years old and was at the Funeral) helped mom apply for the position.  God Bless Cousin Marilyn who is now the official Hansen Matriarch and is a true blessing to the entire Hansen Family!  While mom worked for Eastern from 1961 to 1968, she literally traveled the entire United States AND the entire Globe for that matter.  My brave little mom was fearless and traveled to many trouble spots in today’s world that I would not be brave enough to travel on my own.  My brother and sister and I saw my mom and her parents on Camels in Egypt.  Photos of her having drinks with Grandma and Grandpa in the Ice Cave in Switzerland.  We were able to retrace her footsteps in Jerusalem and Bethlehem which is so very important to our religious beliefs.  She floated down the Amazon and Congo Rivers and slept in the African Safari among dangerous wildlife like Lions and Elephants. 

A Tribute to my Loving Mom:  Beverly Ann Hansen, April 10, 1943 to September 4, 2021 - Part 1

My beautiful little mom was born April 10, 1943 in Christ Hospital Jersey City, NJ to the proud and loving Parents Grace Mary (Waddilove) and George Birkland Hansen of Hoboken, NJ.  Mom’s first childhood home was at 6215 Boulevard Avenue, West New York, NJ Apartment 4A.  Mom was there through the 5th grade.  Later in mom’s childhood beginning in the 6th grade the Family moved to 1200 88th Street in North Bergen, NJ where mom eventually attended Union Hill High School and graduated in 1961 with High Honors.  My mom was amazing in High School.  She won awards like “Class Cutie”, “Best Personality”, “Million Dollar Smile”, and graduated with specific Awards for Most Dependable, Most Trustworthy, and Most Honest.  She was a member of the National Honor Society and was active in many Clubs such as President of the Literary Club and President of the Business Club.  She even worked in the Principal’s office her last two years in High School.  Mom always credited her loving parents George and Grace Hansen for these fantastic traits.  Besides Beauty and a Wonderful Personality, mom was incredibly smart too.  She graduated near the top of her class and had straight A’s on her Report Cards particularly during her Junior and Senior Years where mom really came into her own.  My Sister Beverly (Peanut) and I found all this documentation including her report cards in mom’s childhood and teenage photo albums.  Thanks to my mom’s amazing documentation skills we have been able to relive all her best events and incredible journeys.
