In the Book of Matthew, 22:36-40, Jesus was asked (36 )Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?

(37) Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a] (38) This is the first and greatest commandment. (39) And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b] (40) All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Mom's life reflected these two commandments.  She worshipped God in Prayer whether going to daily Mass as a child in New Jersey or Maine, or as an adult at Saint Lawrence Church---saying the Rosary---or praying for others even from her hospital bed.  She loved her family and her neighbors. She reveled in simple kindness.  She always gave the best of herself to others, never holding back.

Although I only met her once, she left a lasting impression on me as a kind, thoughtful person who loved life. Her warmth and sincerity were very evident!

So was so sweet and kind to us neighborhood kids when we were growing up. I was often at the Keating home to play and for meals and it was always a pleasure to be with her.

A kind and caring woman, whom it was a blessing to know.  The world is a lonelier place without her. We will miss her dearly.

Always a smile, always a kind word, always thinking of others before herself. She was loved by us all. Heaven is lucky to have her...

My next door neighbor for more than 12 years, Mrs. Keating (I called her by her nickname "Bunny") was one of the sweetest and dearest people I ever knew. She always had a kind word. "I'll say a prayer for you," she would tell me, when I groused about work or life's craziness. And what a cook! Often, coming off the elevator, I would be pulled to her door by the tantalizing aromas of her home-made dishes like her amazing stuffed cabbage. She was a thoughtful, compassionate woman, friend and neighbor. I will miss her, and I will always think of her with great fondness."

I will never forget her. She was the sweetest woman I ever met. She was an angel on earth and I know she is watching over us all

Claire was one of the nicest person I have ever met.  My thoughts and prayers are with you now.

When I moved to Weehawken 12 years ago, the first person I met was Mrs Keating. We were in the laundry room of our building. She was welcoming, kind, and gracious. She told heart warming stories about her family, and her attitude made me appreciate how fortuitous it was that I had found Weehawken. A few weeks later, I was watching the local Memorial Day parade from my window and noticed Mrs Keating on the bench on the sidewalk enjoying the parade. Her quiet, unassuming presence on that bench had the power to stop the parade. The youth sports leagues stopped to acknowledge her - the police, fire and rescue squads recognized her status, and the politicians left the parade route to be seen with her. My condolences to her friends and family, and know that her spirit makes this neighborhood a better place.
