Mrs. Elvira Meehan died on August 2, 2006. She was born in Union City and lived there most of her life until moving to Manchester NJ. 13 years ago. Mrs. Meehan was the Director of the Young Children's World Day Care Center in Union City for many years before retiring.
Vera is the wife of former Union City Mayor William J. Meehan. She is the sister of Alfred Petaccia and the sister in law of Louise Petaccia as well as the aunt of Valerie and Stephen Petaccia.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Sts. Joseph and Michael Church at 10:30 followed by the interment at the N.J. Veterans Cemetery Arneytown N.J. Arrangements under the direction of Leber Funeral Home in Union City, NJ.
