Frank J. Scarafile, 81, passed away on Wednesday 8/26/2009. He was born on 8/18/1928 in Union City to humble beginnings where he lived most of his life before moving to North Bergen 10 years ago. Frank graduated from Emerson High School in 1946 then went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 in Japan after World War II. He joined the Union City Police Department rising to the rank of Deputy Chief for over 28 years retiring in 1980.He is the beloved husband of Marie Scarafile and the devoted father of; Frank R. Scarafile, James Scarafile, Donna Dugan and Fred Turco. He is also the loving grandfather of 8 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Fiore and Quido Scarafile as well as his brother Daniel and sisters Palma and Pauline.The funeral will be on Saturday 8/29/2009 at10:30am at Our Lady of Libra Church with the interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery.Arrangements under the direction of Leber Funeral Home, Union City, NJ.
