on July 20, 2021, 7 months following the death of her beloved spouse, Nicholas who passed in
December, 2020.
Genevieve, the daughter of Jennie M. Venutolo and William V. Musto, was born on November
18, 1925 in her parents’ home in North Bergen, NJ; the town where she remained and lived her
entire life till her death. An unassuming and kind person, Genevieve preferred to “live along the
sidelines of life”. She was a very intelligent, strong, humble and talented individual. During her
teenage years, she worked alongside her father at the family owned business, Musto’s
Pharmacy in Union City. This experience eventually determined her life’s path to become one
of the few women pharmacists at that time, graduating from Rutgers College of Pharmacy in
1946. It was through her college friend/pharmacy classmate, Antoinette, that she eventually
met her husband, Nicholas, as he was her neighbor in Hoboken. Nicholas and Genevieve were
married on September 24, 1950. They were blessed to have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Genevieve was a loving and devoted wife and mother of their 4 children, William, Robert, Jean
and Renee. She worked part time alongside her husband as a pharmacist at the family
business, Seifert’s Pharmacy in Guttenberg till her sons, William and Robert graduated from
college as pharmacists and continued on in the business.
Genevieve had many other interests that she pursued. She loved cooking and read cookbooks
like novels. She enjoyed music, played the piano, accordion, guitar and the Hawaiian guitar.
She imparted that love of playing musical instruments to her children. As an artist, she pencil
sketched many portraits for people and dabbled in oil painting after taking an evening class at
the high school. She considered herself a “frustrated artist” as this was her greatest talent. She
was also a very spiritual person and participated in many church activities as able. Genevieve
and Nicholas eventually purchased a summer home at the Jersey Shore where the family
shared many good times with family and friends. Bicycle riding was her favorite activity that she
enjoyed immensely at the Jersey shore.
Genevieve was a beautiful person, loved and respected by everyone. She will be greatly
missed, but always close in heart and spirit. Genevieve is survived by her 4 loving children,
William and his wife, Mary Anne; Robert; Jean Rant and her husband, Walt; Renee Mitchell and
her husband, Richard; 10 grandchildren, Monica Picca; Thomas Rant, Brian Rant, Rebecca and
her husband, Richard Rean, Craig Rant, Jessica Rant, Erik Rant; Christine Mitchell, Amanda
and her husband, Michael Domingues-Oriundo, Victoria Mitchell; and 2 great grandchildren,
Luna Rant and Anastasia Domingues-Oriundo.
