With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved father, José “Lolo” Maldonado-Alvarado, after a long battle with dementia.
He was born on August 3, 1935, in Cayey, Puerto Rico to Otilio Maldonado and Rosa Alvarado. José “Lolo” entered Army service 39th Infantry Brigade on June 8, 1954, and continued in the Army Reserve. In 1957 he met his beloved wife Blanca and had four daughters. He retired from Boiling Springs Garden in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where he worked as a maintenance superintendent, to live in Orlando, Florida, with his wife, Blanca, returning to New Jersey upon her illness.
José was a charming man, a gentle soul and a hero to his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was available for you when you needed him the most. “Lolo” was always ready for a challenging game of dominoes, which he somehow strategically always won! He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and with his family back home in Puerto Rico. He will be missed and remembered for the many lives he touched.
José leaves behind his children, Lourdes (Julio) Mendez, Maritza (Francisco) Franco,
Blanca Iris (Oscar) Ordoñez, Cynthia (José) Morales, his grandchildren, Giovanni, Natasha, Joseph, Lorén Alexha, Javier, Johnathan, Chloë, Jaylyn, Joel, and his great-grandson, Lucas.
We love you and miss you.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in mourning his passing on Saturday March 25, 2023 at Leber Funeral Home, 2000 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Union City, NJ for a small viewing at 9-10 followed by mass at Our Lady of Fatima 8011 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, NJ at 11:00 am.
