Kathie A Pontus, 76, a life long resident of Union City, passed away on June 1st, 2023, at Alaris at Belgrove Rehabilitation Center in Kearny, NJ. Kathie was the founder and facilitator for the Hudson County Geneology and Historical Society. She was instrumental in saving the Blue Chapel in Union City, and identifying the lay names of the 88 nuns buried on property.
Surviviors include her sister Patricia Pontus-Martin, daughter Traci Broderick of Lodi, and Dierdre J Berry, cousin.
Funeral services will be private, Kathie will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. A graveside service will be held on June 6th, 2023, at 12:45pm.
