

Santiago Diaz, 90, was born to the late Andres & Juana Diaz, in Bayamon Puerto Rico, on August 15, 1930. The family moved to the mainland of New York City when he was just a young man. It was here in New York, on the Lower East Side where he met Aida Lucy Diaz his future wife for over 55 plus years.
Santiago Diaz & Aida Lucy Diaz relocated to New Jersey 15 years ago where they spent the remainder years of their life in Hoboken & Union City. Our beloved Grandfather passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 4:20am at Manhattan View Nursing home in Union City with his daughter Zoraida by his side.
Along with his wife, Aida Lucy Diaz, they were able to nurture and grow our beautiful family. Santiago Diaz spent most of his life maintaining and operating buildings in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Santiago’s beloved wife, Lucy, passed away 10 years ago. He continued to cherish the many memories he forged with her long after her death. Santiago Diaz Jr his only son passed away earlier this year, he cherished his son dearly. Survivors include his loving daughter, Zoraida Ramos, whom he affectionately called Zory and her two adoring children, Danny Ramos and Darlene Hicks. He is also survived by his additional grandchildren Amanda Diaz, Rebecca Diaz, Krystal Diaz and Edwin Martinez as well as his nine great grandchildren with another one on the way.
Santiago’s Life Celebration will include visiting the Leber Funeral Home at 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, NJ on Monday, December 21 from 4-8 PM. He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ on Tuesday morning December 22nd. He will be buried alongside with his Beloved wife Lucy Diaz, and his son Santiago Diaz Jr.
Santiago, or Chago, Papi, Abuelo, as he was affectionately known, will always be remembered by his loving family, who will cherish the fond memories of him. He was loved dearly and will be forever missed.
