Teresa is survived by her three devoted daughters and their spouses: Adolfina “Fina” Currenti (Steve), Cecilia Manley, and Patricia Navarro-Cohen (Steve); three grandchildren: Lauren Currenti, Michele Currenti, and Alysha Manley; younger brother Manolo Quintana; grand-dogs: Laila Navarro-Cohen, and Penny Currenti; and an incredibly large and loving extended family of siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She rejoins her beloved husband of 46 years Primitivo Navarro, her mother Zoila Quintana, and five of her siblings in heaven.
Teresa was a model example of putting family before all else. She was an excellent wife and working mother, successfully raising three daughters and countless family members beginning in her native city of Havana, Cuba and continuing in West New York, New Jersey. She immigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1960 to build a more successful life for her family.
Teresa never led a lavish, easy life, but would gladly give all in her power to provide a loving existence for her girls and husband, Primitivo.
She was well known for always sending her loved ones home after any visit with more than enough food, donating all that she could to various charities, and sending care packages to her granddaughters. Her favorite activities included feeding her family, wrapping loved ones in prayer, and sneaking treats to any pet that came to visit her. She ensured that her family continued strong traditions such as speaking Spanish at home, weekly Sunday lunches, a strong Catholic faith, and large family gatherings on all major (and some minor) holidays.
Teresa was a kind, spiritual, devoted woman who regularly offered help to the needy, particularly the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco - Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in North Haledon, New Jersey. She had a soft spot for children and animals, and always knew exactly which saint to pray to for any need. She will be deeply missed by her family who takes solace in the fact that she is reunited with her Lord and Savior and beloved family in heaven.
A memorial celebration of Teresa’s life will be planned at a later date. The family asks that you please keep her intentions in your prayers.
