Vincent Conroy

He was born in North Bergen on August 28, 1931, to the late Mary Ellen Conroy (nee Powers) and Vincent Conroy. He married his beloved wife, Eleanor Conroy (nee Chumley) on June 25, 1966. Together, they had four children: Julianne Anderson, Vincent Conroy, Colleen Conroy, and John Conroy. They also had four grandchildren: Brianna, Alexis, Grace, and Lora. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ellen Schmitt and Margaret Modarelli.

Vincent was a firefighter for the North Bergen Fire Department for 42 years, serving as Deputy Chief from 1985 until he retired in 1994. An avid lover of sports, he was an All-State athlete in his youth and a successful high school, Babe Ruth, and Little League Coach. Vincent graduated from Holy Family High School in Union City before serving his country as a Marine.

The visitation for Vincent will be held at Leber Funeral Home in Union City on Tuesday, May 31, from 2-5 PM. The funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Church in North Bergen on Wednesday, June 1, at 10:30 AM. Vincent will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
