A memorial service for him will be held at Colonial Funeral Home (625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX) on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 at 6:00pm.
Allen was born on September 21st, 1954 to parents Eddie and Marie. At age fifteen he bought his first motorcycle, a candy red Honda SL 90. To Allen, riding motorcycles was more than just a hobby; it was freedom and it was flying. That interest led him to work on cars throughout his high school years at Thomas Jefferson High School, where he graduated in 1972.
One of his other hobbies was working with wood, a skill that would allow him to contract houses with his father and interact with his future father-in-law. On February 23rd, 1991 he joined Joan Del Castillo in marriage and had their first child Hailey ten months later. Two houses and two years later they had their second child Bradley.
Allen was a master mechanic and was responsible for painting the first line of Toyota Tundras at the southside San Antonio plant when it opened in 2006. He spent his free time watching old movies and documentaries, listening to music, working on cars and motorcycles, and spending time with loved ones.
Allen’s final days were spent walking the family dog (Jake) and hiking with his daughter to Comanche Hill’s peak. While his passing was unexpected, his family is proud that he felt better exercising and enjoying the outdoors; something he grew up doing as a boy.
He is survived by his wife, Joan D Ellebracht; daughter and son, Hailey & Bradley Ellebracht; mother-in-law, Vicky Del Castillo; brother and sisters-in-law Jesse, Jean & Janet Del Castillo; niece and nephews, Christina, James, & Joshua Del Castillo and Nick & Chris Ellebracht; and brother Kenneth Ellebracht.
His friends and family remember him as “larger than life” and “a kind-hearted friend.”
He will surely be missed.
