

Barbara A. Johnson, of Universal City, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 25, 2026, at the age of 70. She was surrounded by love and leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and family.
Barbara was born on August 20, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Joel Doughty and Elizabeth Thomas. She was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans and was a faithful member of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, where her spiritual life was deeply rooted.
A woman of warmth and grace, Barbara found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gospel music, cherished being a mother, and delighted in collecting handbags, shoes, casual clothing, and stuffed animals. Her nurturing spirit and gentle heart were evident to all who knew her. She was also an active and devoted member of the Tabernacle of Prayer Ministries, where she faithfully served and worshiped.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joel Doughty and Elizabeth Thomas, and her son, Joshua Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 45 years, Nathaniel Johnson; her loving children, Danielle D. Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Damaris Johnson, Nacquinta J. Johnson, Joshua L. Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Brenale Johnson, Nichelle Johnson, John Johnson, and Nathaniel P. Johnson; and her treasured granddaughter, Hermani Johnson. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family, church family, and dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and love.
Visitation will be held on February 12, 2026, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas. A funeral service will immediately follow at the same location from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Committal Service will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209 from 2:15 p.m. to 2:35 p.m.
Barbara A. Johnson will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
