Betty Sue Goodwin

Betty was born on November 11, 1933, in Merigold, Mississippi, to Golden Amos Wells and Clifford Lucille “Griffin” Wells. Throughout her long and beautiful life, Betty was known for her loving heart, her creativity, and the genuine joy she found in the people she loved.

During her time in Japan, Betty served as president of the NCO Wives Club at Kantomura Air Base, one of the many chapters in a life filled with experiences, friendships, and cherished memories.

Betty had a wonderfully creative spirit and loved working with her hands. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, as well as making pottery and ceramics. She was also an avid reader and appreciated the quieter pleasures of life. Among those simple joys were her daily coffee visits with her dear friend and neighbor, Karen Heald. Their time together became a treasured part of Betty’s days and a beautiful example of the friendships she held close throughout her life.

Above all, Betty loved her family. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and few things brought her more happiness than being present for the moments that mattered to them. Whether sitting in the stands at a sporting event, listening proudly at a band concert, or attending another school activity, Betty was there. She celebrated their accomplishments, encouraged them along the way, and made sure they always knew how deeply they were loved.

Betty’s life was filled with the things she treasured most: family, friendship, creativity, and time spent together. Her loving presence, gentle devotion to those around her, and the countless memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Albert Goodwin; her father, Golden Amos Wells; and her mother, Clifford Lucille “Griffin” Wells.

Betty is survived by her son, Richard Alan Goodwin and Teresa; her daughter, Karen Sue Crain and Tim; her sisters, Barbara Singley and Marjorie Watson; her grandchildren, Elliott Goodwin and wife Teresa, Bradley Goodwin and wife Kimberly, Russell Goodwin and Rosie, Ashley Kriewald and husband Bradley, Cody Goodwin and fiancée Danielle, Zachary Goodwin and wife Morgan, and Krista Feldmann and husband Joe; and her great-grandchildren, Connor Goodwin, Anahi Zepeda-Goodwin, Noemi Zepeda-Goodwin, Piper Feldmann, MacKenzie Goodwin, Zoey Falhman-Stamm, Cooper Stamm, and Evelyn Goodwin. Lastly, Buddy, her Dachshund companion (story is she had just started considering getting a dog for a companion, and her neighbor, Raymond found an abandoned dog at his job site and brought it home on a leash and asked Betty if she wanted him as a companion and she was excited and said yes immediately). Karen Crain, daughter, is now caring for Buddy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amanda Norman and Musah Ali with Premier Senior Care, LLC, for the compassion, kindness, and loving care they provided Betty during her final days. The family is also deeply grateful to the staff of Passion Hospice for the comfort and support they provided to Betty and her loved ones.They would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Trinity Provider Services for the caring of Betty during her last few months.

Serving as pallbearers will be Elliott Goodwin, Bradley Goodwin, Russell Goodwin, Cody Goodwin, Zachary Goodwin, Bradley Stamm and Joe Feldmann.

Betty leaves behind a life beautifully lived and a family deeply loved. While her presence will be dearly missed, the love she gave so freely remains woven into the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148, US, on September 10, 2026, from 10am to 12pm, with a Reception to follow from 12pm to 1pm.

After, there will be a Committal Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, US, on September 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
