

Betty Jean Petefish, 83, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2012. She was born to Stephen J. and Jeanne (LaVigne) Laurent in Shreveport, Louisiana where she spent her childhood and early adult years. On January 5, 1952 she married her loving husband, Col. (ret) Wilson Petefish. During their 57 years of marriage they lived and traveled all over the world throughout his military career. They retired in Universal City, Texas where they lived for 38 years. She relocated to the Dallas area in 2010 and was a resident at The Conservatory Senior Living in Plano.
Betty was a very giving person who served in many charitable organizations throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Monica Parish in Converse, Texas for many years and was actively involved in the Altar Society and St. Vincent de Paul Society there, along with many other volunteer organizations.
She is survived by daughters, Marion Bizé and husband Gerry Sherman, Lauren Hernandez and husband Joe, and Stephanie Walters; granddaughter Nicolette Bizé; her sister Dorothy Maxwell, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, her brother Archie Laurent, and sister Joyce Martin.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home from 5:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be concelebrated Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 501 North St., Converse, Texas with Father Dennis Aréchiga and Monsignor Patrick Flanagan as celebrants. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Donald Cook, Joe Hernandez, Jesse Rodriguez, William Rodriguez, Gerry Sherman, and Rick Wylie. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Monica’s St. Vincent de Paul Society.
