Bobby D. Fisher was born on October 25, 1937 to George and Odell Carr Fisher in
Wilmar, Arkansas. Bobby (affectionately called "Bob" by his parents) was the first
born of two children. His parents preceded him in death.
Bobby married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life Arlethia Earlene. Theirs
was an enduring marriage of 58 years. They were blessed with two children.
Bobby graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Little Rock, Arkansas,
in 1954. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served
honorably for 23 years. He retired as a Tech Sergeant and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Bobby accepted Christ at an early age. He served faithfully for many years in
various ministries, including Usher president, Sunday school teacher, and choir
member. He was ordained as a Deacon at Savannah Baptist Church in 2000 by
Pastor Alexander Shepherd, Sr. He later became a charter member at Rock of Faith
Baptist Church and served as Chairman of Deacon's Ministry under Pastor Paul Wilkerson, Sr.
He was also a Deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church under Pastor Stennish Edwards.
He united with St. Stephens Baptist Church in May of 2012 and was recently recognized
as Deacon Emeritus.
Bobby had a great love for sports which was a significant part of his life. He played
semi-pro baseball prior to joining the Air Force. Afterwards, he participated on both
baseball and softball teams for several different Air Force Base teams. Additionally
he served as coach for his squadron's basketball team. His deep passion for sports
enabled him to significantly impact several generations of youth in the community as
he helped them improve their baseball skills and coach a little league team.
He was a certified umpire and umpired into his 60's.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Arlethia Fisher; one son, Anthony and Brenda
Fisher of New Braunfels, Texas and one daughter, Sherice Fisher of Irving, Texas;
three grandchildren: Justin Fisher, Jeanora Fisher, and Josiah Fisher; one great grandson,
Jayden Fisher; one sister, Jamie Fisher of Benton, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Juana Johnson
of Pine Bluff. Arkansas and Ophelia Price of Indianapolis, Indiana. He also leaves a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
