Carlos "El Chumelito" Hernandez

Carlos “El Chumelito” Hernandez entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on November 8, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born in Soyapango, San Salvador, El Salvador on November 4, 1940, to Angela Carcamo and Jose Hernandez.

Carlos loved soccer and boxing, but his greatest love was his family. He married Olga Perez, and together they raised three boys. He loved his grandchildren, teaching Christian how to play soccer, and enjoyed being part of his games by cheering him on. He also loved calling his brothers and sisters over the phone, he would talk for hours with his little brother Tio Lito.

The Catholic Faith was the center of his life and put it into practice through prayer of the Rosary, reading his Bible, attending first Friday first Saturday vigils, going to adoration and loved enthroning homes with his buddy George.

At 81 years old he’d enjoy gardening, exercising, playing soccer with his friends and traveling. He would also enjoy going to the park to evangelize to people.

Carlos is reunited in heaven with his parents, Angela and Jose; sisters, Esther, Coralia, Irma and Lily; brothers, Chamba and Juan; and his beloved grandmother Mamá Josefa.

He will always be remembered by his loving wife, Olga Hernandez; sons, Carlitos “Famoso Don” Jr (Veronica D) Hernandez, Steve (Rozet) Hernandez and Ryan “Rayado” Hernandez; grandchildren, Christian, Camila, Steve Jr and Sonia; siblings, Mauricio “Lito” (Petra) Carcamo and Ana Maria (Alfredo) Morales. Special friends, George Haloot, Susan De La Plata, Tomas, and the rest of the soccer team would get together to play. His memory will also always be remembered by numerous extended family and friends.

A rosary service for Carlos will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A visitation will occur Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at St Timothy Catholic Church, 1515 Saltillo St, San Antonio, TX 78207.
