Catherine was born on February 22, 1946, in Savannah, Georgia, to Thomas Lawrence Russell and Helen Catherine Dulohery Russell. After attending college and studying business, Catherine began a successful career in technology, working as a programmer and database administrator for Qualex. Her career reflected her intelligence, determination, and attention to detail, qualities that she carried with her throughout her life.
A devout Catholic, Catherine's faith was an important part of who she was and how she lived. She had a genuine heart for serving others and generously gave her time to her community, including volunteering at her local library and with Fiesta.
Catherine was also a gifted artist who found great joy in painting, often creating special pieces for family and friends. Her creativity was just one of the many ways she showed her love for those around her. She delighted in spoiling her family whenever she had the opportunity and believed that holidays were meant to be celebrated wholeheartedly. Christmas held an especially dear place in her heart, and she embraced the season with all the joy and tradition she could muster.
An enthusiastic sports fan, Catherine especially loved football. She was deeply patriotic and enjoyed traveling throughout the country, taking in the places and experiences that made America special to her. Those fortunate enough to know Catherine may also remember one particularly sweet talent: her famous pecan turtles, which her family proudly considered the very best.
Above all, Catherine will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, her generosity toward others, her creativity, and the enthusiasm with which she embraced the things she loved. Her presence brought something special to the lives of those around her, and the memories she created will continue to be treasured by her family and friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lawrence Russell and Helen Catherine Dulohery Russell; her sister, Judith Noel; and her husbands, Glenn Curry and Col. James Huston.
She is survived by her nephew, Ethan Noel and his wife, Hannah; her great-nephews, Grayson and Jordy; and her great-niece, Maelee, along with those whose lives were touched by her friendship, kindness, and generosity.
Catherine's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Village at Incarnate Word for the care and kindness shown to Catherine.
