Charlie was born in McAllen, Texas on August 1, 1959, to parents, Raymond & Letha Young.
In his early life, Charlie took his education seriously. He graduated from United High School in Laredo, Texas in 1977 and then graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1984, earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Charlie was a kind soul that loved traveling, history and cooking. While living in Victoria, TX, he adored fishing with his friends and sailing his sailboat “Abracadabra.” Charlie would also set sail to Matagorda Island for the weekend with his wife to walk the beach and collect seashells.
Charlie favored cycling as well. He even participated in the MS150 a number of times with a group of friends from San Antonio.
Charlie loved traveling with his family. After retirement, he and his brother Kevin took a trip to Europe to tour WW2 battlegrounds. Last year, Charlie enjoyed a trip to London and Paris with Judy and the girls. Charlie was also quite a sports fan. He would watch the Spurs, Cowboys and the Indiana Fever play constantly.
For work, he was the owner of American TV & Applicance in Victoria, TX for 15 years. Many of his customers would stop in the store just to chat and enjoy his presence. Then, Charlie became a Sales Representative for Vent-A-Hood until 2015. In 2016, he was a Sales Representative for Maple Distributing until April 2024, when he retired. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting dealers and was always ready to strike up a good conversation.
Charlie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 40 years, Judy Stacey Young; Daughter, Stacy Young, of Atlanta, GA; Brother, Kevin Young (Wife, Carol), of Tucson, AZ; Nieces: Bree Wagner, of Gallatin, TN, Jessica Asher (Husband, Kevin) of Tucson, AZ, and Kimberly Young, of Seattle, WA; Great-Niece, Tatum Grace Wagner, of Gallatin, TN; and Great-Nephew, Cooper Asher, of Tucson, AZ.
One of Charlie’s greatest joys was watching Tatum grow up.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Letha Young, and his niece, Shannon Wagner.
His family will certainly miss his quirky sense of humor, his silly made-up songs, all his antics, who sometimes Tatum would partake in, and as Tatum would say, “There’s enough Charlie stories to fill a book, and they all make you laugh.”
“Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too short for those who rejoice, too long for those who grieve, but for those who love, time is eternity.” – Henry Van Dyke
