Charmaine A. Connolly

Charmaine Alexandria Connolly of Universal City, Texas, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 8, 2026, shortly after arriving at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 6, 1944, in Kingston, Jamaica, to the late Alexander Ziadie and Iris Sherwood-Ziadie. She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Ziadie, and her sisters, Margaret DeStefano and Barbara Ziadie. She is survived by her brothers, Rudolph and Richard Ziadie, and her sister, Isis Thiel.

A beloved mother and grandmother, Charmaine is survived by her three loving children: Shawn Connolly, married to Courtney King Connolly; Brian Connolly and Charlene Connolly-Culwell, married to Gregory Culwell. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Haley Cortinas, married to Joshua Cortinas; Austin Connolly; Shane DeStefano; Parker Connolly and Christian Connolly. She also adored and doted over her four great-grandchildren: Hayden, Harlee, Hudson, and Huxley Cortinas.

Charmaine had a long and meaningful career as a nurse and was extremely proud of her vocation. She cared for patients in several hospital departments, but especially loved caring for babies in the NICU. She was also a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Universal City, Texas, and was known for her strong devotion to her faith. Charmaine enjoyed sharing photographs, making crafts and jewelry, and spending time with her loved ones. She leaves behind family members and friends around the world who will deeply miss her. She was truly a loving soul with a giving heart full of compassion.

Charmaine’s legacy is one of courage, resilience, devotion, selflessness and love. Her kindness and warm smile will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk, Rd., Universal City, Texas 78148 with Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX 78266 will immediately follow.
