Conrad J. Simoneaux, 86, of San Antonio, TX, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2022. He was born in Napoleonville, LA on March 16, 1936 to Emile and Rosa Simoneaux. He was married to Loretta (Brossart) Simoneaux for 57 years. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1955 and enlisted in the US Air Force. He was assigned to units in North Dakota, New York, the Republic of Viet Nam, Greenland, California, Louisiana, Florida, the United Kingdom and Arkansas. Conrad retired from the Air Force after 28 years and served two tours of duty in Vietnam during the 1960s. While in Viet Nam, he earned a Bronze Star with Valor for his heroic actions at Bien Hoa on February 28, 1968 extinguishing aircraft fires. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the US Postal Service for fifteen years.
Conrad is preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Rosa; his loving wife, Loretta; daughter Jean Rodden; brothers Ivan and Ralph; and, twin sister Kara.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters Kathleen (Brian) Bastow and Deborah Simoneaux; sons Robert (Peggy), Edward and Stephan; and, grandchildren Paul, Christopher, Sean, Erin, Vanessa, Ian, Josh, Michael, and Olivia. Also left behind are eleven great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Conrad was a devout Catholic and loved following college and professional sports, especially football. He was a voracious reader. He also loved watching nature and its creatures. Conrad loved life and always had a smile on his face even in the darkest of times: He was never concerned about himself and was always interested in making life convenient for others. He found great joy in the simplest things in life and he cherished time with his immediate and extended families.
A visitation for Conrad will be held Monday, September 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A rosary will occur at 7:00 PM. A mass of resurrection will occur Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 8:00 AM at Randolph Air Force Chapel, 1 Harmon Dr, Randolph AFB, TX 78150. An interment will follow at 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.
