I met Cosmas Chivandire in 2015 he was hands down the most educated and talented person i had ever met. He had an intellect that was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced ! I found out he was an established and published poet around the same time i was starting out so i would always go to him and ask him to listen and critique my poems. It was never a one sided thing , i would spit him a poem and he’d spit one right back . It was truly a pleasure to hear his art first hand . He helped me workshop and complete “Kicked out at 16” one of the first poems i had ever written. I believe that poem was both of ours , there was no way i could take all the credit. I aspired to be as talented as him. In a way he was a mentor me and i am forever greatful. “I’m an African check my melanin “ RIP son of Zimbabwe . You’ll be missed 🙏🏿💙

Cosmas was a lover of written word and music. It was in these two endeavors that we bonded and enjoyed many conversations and debates. He would introduce me to new things and I did the same for him. He was a thoughtful, intelligent, and wise soul that left us far too soon. I pray for peace and comfort for his young family and all that loved him. He will not be forgotten.
