He was born on December 12,1935 in Onawa, Iowa to the late John Stephan Beigel and Lillian Rose Cummins Beigel. He moved to Ash Fork, Arizona and graduated from Havasu High School in 1955. He married the late Dorothea Gertrude Beigel (Rohl) in Stuttgart, Germany on March 13, 1960. While serving in the Army, they lived in many countries and cities before settling down in San Antonio, TX in 1978.
Daniel started his career in the United States Army as a Medic in 1958 and retired as first infantry in 1978 after twenty years of service. He had multiple tours in Korea, Vietnam, and Berlin. During that time he received the following distinguished medals: Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, Commendation, and Air.
Daniel was an avid carpenter working many projects for his family and friends. If you look around his children's homes you'll see many items made by Dan. He was a gifted woodworker.
He is preceded in death by wife Dorothea Gertrude Beigel; his parents John Stephan Beigel and Lillian Rose Cummings; brothers Wayne and Johnny Beigel; and sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Griffith and Margaret (Peg) Dickerson.
Daniel is survived by three children: Dorothea Bowen and husband Scott; James (Tony) Beigel and wife Deborah; and Daniel Beigel Jr and wife Stacy. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Ryan Bowen and wife Jessica; Eric Bowen and wife Brooke; Angela Bowen; Brianna Beigel; Nicholas Beigel; Cosette Beigel; and Annabelle Beigel. As well as two great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Kelsey Bowen.
