

Daniel was born on November 30, 1923 in Grandfalls, Texas and went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2022 at his home in Cibolo, Texas. He was surrounded by his immediate family at the time of his departure.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio G. and Maria A. Esparza; His son, Jose M. Esparza and Daughter-in–law, Elena; Siblings: Antonio Esparza, Eloisa E. Vijil, Jose M. Esparza, Ramona Polanco, and Felix J. Esparza.
Daniel leaves behind his beloved wife of 80 years, Cruz Rey Esparza; three daughters: Linda Briseno, Aurora E. Garza (Daniel), and Ramona Tompkins (Fiancé Thomas Carey); two sons: Rogelio Esparza (Marianna) and Samuel Esparza (Rebecca); 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren whom he loved deeply. He also leaves behind a sister, Mary Primera.
Daniel was a successful businessman, who began and managed his own trucking company. He employed mostly close family members as drivers. His trucks played a crucial role in building many Texas highways, including the tunnel in Big Bend National Park.
He very successfully provided for his own family while giving others the opportunity to do the same.
Daniel served in World War II and was awarded a WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon, and Two Bronze Stars while in action in combat. All three sons kept up the tradition and served in the military with the Army and Air Force.
Daniel was a strong faith in God and belonged to the Good Shepard Catholic and had been a member of the knights of Columbus. He set a good example to his family and was always ready to help his family and friends.
Daniel was a well-respected man and will be missed dearly.

A visitation for Daniel will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A rosary will occur Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A mass will occur Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Church of the Good Shepherd, 1065 E. Live Oak Rd., Schertz, TX 78154. A graveside service will occur Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.
