Doug was born in Augusta, Kansas on March 15, 1943 to the late William and Harriette Hough. He was the second youngest of 10 children. He is survived by his three sisters Ann, Dorothy and Mildred.
Doug married Elizabeth Ann Chandler on May 24, 1965 and had two children, Darrell Jr. and Lisa. Sadly Darrell preceded Doug on September 02, 1997. Doug also remarried to Cleotide Rivers on March 9, 1996.
Doug was an Army Medic during Vietnam and continued in the service to his Country for more than 25 years. He also served in the National Guard. Doug received numerous medals during his service which are too numerous to note, but included a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart Medal which he received in Vietnam. Doug’s service to the Army and his Country continued to be a major part of his life until his final days. He was a proud Army Veteran.
Doug will be missed by his remaining family and Veteran brothers. Rest in Peace.
A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 2:50 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #3, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
