Apologies to the family and friends for the late condolences for Don and Mona- we were not aware of their passing until now. I didn't know my Uncle Don very well but it was sure nice to read so many heartfelt comments and memories here.  He did visit his family in Ontario and Michigan several times over the years.  He is survived by his younger sister Evelyn.  The Lawrences are strong people. 
may they rest in peace. 


I had the pleasure and honor to know Don and Mona for many years through the Lone Star Greys (SCV) organization.  Don was a Christian man, a patriot and a friend.  His boundless energy in supporting all of our events was amazing.  Don strove to be a friend to all and lived with a zest for life every day.  May God comfort his family and friends as He welcomes Don into his eternal Heavenly rest.  

I met Don around 2005 and became quick friends with him. I was always "Cody Boy" to him but that never bothered me. It was an honor to be in his company and to call him my friend.

He loved life and had a real zeal for it. I admired his enthusiasm and sense of humor. He and I always shared some good laughs when we visited, and I always looked forward to those opportunities. He and Mona were always so kind and gracious to my family too. 

There's so much more I could say, but I will close by saying that I will sorely miss them both. I'm grateful that I was so blessed as to know them. 

Don was a true friend and hero of the war. I always told him he was my hero. Sorry to see him go. I love you Don, RIP, you will be greatly missed! 

To all who knew Don, he was a mentor for me in the Lonestar Greys, his passing is indicative of the passing of the GREATEST GENERATION.  Don, a fellow Veteran of a different war and time but also a Brother Veteran and warrior and friend.  In GOD'S many mansions there surely must be one for warriors, either way, we'll meeting on the other side of the river under the trees. Rusty Harris

This is a picture of a typical Avro Lancaster bomber. Don loved these aircraft which as short as he was, he was assigned to fly. He told me they were a breeze to fly and they brought him home safety, time and time again. Ironically, he was summoned into HQ and assigned to a fighter aircraft squadron to overfly the beaches at Normandy on D-Day.

Don & Mona were faithful members of Christ Presbyterian Church in New Braunfels Tx for several years.  Don was a true patriot and WW II veteran.  Thus we bid one of the last of the greatest generation farewell.
