Doris Mae Henderson, a cherished soul from New Braunfels, Texas, with roots in Universal City and San Benito, Texas, peacefully departed this world on the 9th of January, 2024, at the age of 77. Her journey began in the small town of San Benito, Texas, where she was born to Virgil Lee (Bert) Hack and Mary Ann (Hanford) Hack on July 12, 1946.
Doris was a beautician by trade but spent most of her life caring for her family and maintaining the household (The most important trade of all).
Throughout her life, Doris volunteered regularly at church ranging in service as a Sunday School teacher to volunteering regularly in the church “Attic” (which provided many items to those in need).
Doris shared her love for Jesus with her family and anyone she encountered.
Doris liked crafting. She also enjoyed playing games whether it be rolling the dice with bunco friends, playing cards with friends and family, or cranking the slot machines with Hardy. She loved the color blue and collected beautiful teacups.
Doris is preceded in death by Virgil Lee (Bert) Hack (Father), Mary Ann (Hanford) Hack (Mother), Harold Duane Hart (husband), Douglas McCorkle (husband), Anne McWhorter (sister), Don Hack (brother), and David Hack (brother).
She is survived by her husband, Hardy Henderson.
Her Son, Joel Hart and daughter-in-law Shirleen Hart.
Her Daughter, Heather Koehn and son-in-law Micah Koehn.
Her Sisters, Peggy Parsons and Colleen Bathon.
Along with, brothers-in-law, Wayne Parsons, Roger Bathon and Austin Barber and sisters-in-law, Carol Barber, Carol McCorkle and Patsy Henderson.
Her Grandchildren, Lauren Hinesley, Sequoia Hart, Kaitlyn Koehn, Emma Koehn, Bennett Koehn, Cole Hart, Dawn Whelan and Devyn Frederiksen.
Her Great Grandchildren, Brooke Hinesley, Lane Hinesley and Caroline Whelan.
Her husband Hardy’s sons, Scott Henderson, his wife Tawnya and daughter Riley Grace; Todd Henderson and Tayler Jenkins and their children, Marie Eloise, Miles, Dane, and Cole.
Numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
Her legacy is filled with the everlasting faith and love of Jesus and therefore will live on through all generations to come after her. “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.” Psalms 100:5 NLT
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to the Cancer Research Institute.
A visitation for Doris will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A memorial service will be begin at 2:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home.
