I have known Dottie for 45+ years, 30-35 of them as an adult.  She was one of my mom's best friends, and, aside from my own mom, she was a role model for me.  I never remember Dottie in a bad mood, I never remember her gossiping or saying anything negative about anyone else.  Even if she wasn't, she always seemed to be in a good mood and made anyone around her HAPPY!!  Everyone wanted to be around her - and Tom!  They were the best - a relationship I try to emulate.  She will be missed dearly and I know I am not the only one that has been blessed from having her in my life.  What a wonderful woman.  I love you, Dottie.

My sister Leanne (Tom's wife) loved Dorothy so very much so that tells me what a  wonderful person she was.  I met her one at Tom and Leanne's wedding in Key West. She is clearly so much missed and will always be remembered.  Her family is so blessed to have been able to spend all those years with her.

Dorothy was a shining example of grace and dignity. I so admired her ability to brighten up the room whenever she walked in. We will all miss her.

In a strange way my sadness over the loss of my dear friend of 46 years is lightened with the vision of Dottie and Tom on some Heavenly dance floor "jitterbugging", with John watching them.  They were so smooth.  Dottie was always like a ray of sunshine for me. Remembering when I was at a low period in my life, my phone would ring and there was Dottie calling for a chat.  After we hung up the day was so much brighter.  Amazing woman.  She is all the things everyone has written about her.  I will miss her and the lunches we shared the last few months we had her with us.  You will always be in my heart.

The Blackburn family holds a very dear and special place in my heart.  I spoke to Mrs. Blackburn right after Christmas and it was a wonderful conversation.  I had a chance to tell her I love her and now my heart is happy to know she is with Mr. Blackburn and John.  My love and prayers go out to Lori, Tommy and Bobby and their families. The Blackburns were our neighbors for all the years we lived on Sherri Drive. Both Tom and Dorothy were exceptional individuals. They enriched the world by their presence.

We are neighbors of Lori, and through our friendship we were able to meet many of the family members.  Ms Blackburn was the "Rock" of this lucky family, small in stature, but with a big heart filled with love and pride for her family.  Her wish has now been granted to join the love of her life...Tom Blackburn.  Happy Trails Dorothy, until we meet again.

  Dorothy has been a dear friend for more than 40 years. She, like her husband, Tom, were always cheerful and ready to join in a big laugh,an interesting conversation or a good meal at many and varied venues. We have such wonderful stories of our "American Grandma". A truly elegant beautiful lady.  Memories of drinking margaritas at a Mexican restaurant, high heel shoes and wonderful tales from all over the world.  A true lady! Love to Lori and all the family.

My Aunt Dorothy was witty, charming, gracious and kind.  She was a "perfect" woman in my view!  I feel so lucky to have known her.  She and Tom raised a happy and loving family who are the best tribute parents could have.  I know she will be terribly missed.

When we first moved to UC about 18 or so years ago, I remember going out to eat with my family at the local oriental food restaurant.  To my surprise, Dottie was having dinner there as well.  We hadn't been seated but a moment when she came up to our table and gave me a big hug and kiss!  Oh, of course, being military our families had known each other for many years but I hadn't really known the Blackburns (personally) other than an occassional meeting.  For Dottie to come up and greet me like she did, with such warmth and kindness...well...I will never forget her for that.  She was always the most open and friendly person with me (and mine).  She will be in my heart forever!

I remember her as an amazing bundle of energy--which was a good thing when she had to keep up with all of us rowdy teenagers! I have the fondest memories of her, her grace and humor. My love to you all, and from all the Cornell family.

She was a wonderful woman. Lori, I am sure that she and your dad are together in heaven and smiling with pride at their children. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dorothy Blackburn was a true lady in every sense of the word.  I am proud and privileged to call her daughter my friend.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
