I played football for Mount Sacred Heart. I remember everyone telling me that Dwayne Patin from OLPH was a beast! I remember taking him on and being absolutely terrified. Later, we played together at Central Catholic. He was starting Right Tackle as a Sophomore, just to give you an idea of how great he was at football. Dwayne was a year older than me but i always considered him a good friend. He always took time to greet me and talk to me. Later in life, just a year ago, we crossed paths. He took the time to shake my hand and visit with me for about 10 minutes. I left and said, “I wish i knew him better. He is such a great guy. Always has been.” Dwayne is the perfect example of what i call “good people.” He was always known as a great guy! And always will be!

What can I say about Dwayne. We met when we were 4 and became close buddies all through our school years and after. We got our first paddling punishment in kindergarten together, he introduced me to NWA, Public Enemy and Metallica in middle school, always look after me since I was the small one, played middle school football, went to HS freshman football first practice together, had my first beer with him and many more memories. When we hung out later these past few times, it’s like we we were still those young guys in school. I’ll miss your brother and rest easy.

Though Dwayne towered over us all since we were like 7, he was the gentlest giant. He was so funny and kind and just so chill! Spending all of elementary and middle school with someone bonds them to your heart forever. He was a person you were so happy to see! We were blessed to have known him and to be able to see him all grown up (still taller than all of us). Dwayne you’re in my heart forever!

I am saddened to learn about the passing of Dwayne. We send condolences from our family to yours during your time of loss. I worked with Dwayne over the past year and he was always the most encouraging person in the room, such a gentle giant. His presence could easily fill up a room with hope. As a believer I know he loved his family greater than anything in the world. May God comfort you all and bring you peace during your slumper. FAITH OVER FEAR.

I attended K-8th grade with Dwayne, and I can say that without a doubt he was one of my favorite classmates and one of the funnest people to be around. His mere presence just made us feel whole as a class in those years and can’t imagine growing up without him. It saddens me immensely to hear of his passing on to the next life, but I’m sure he is already bringing happiness to those around him. God bless the Paton Family and you are in my prayers.

Patin Family,
I don't know where to begin, but to say that I am sending love to each of you for the loss of a wonderful man, son, brother and dear friend. I met Dwayne and Mark in the early 90's and they were instant brothers to me. Since I found out about his passing, so many amazing memories have come flooding back. He was so loving, funny, intelligent, strong and giving. Our friendship moved from San Antonio to San Marcos and we had so many great times together. I miss him and love him dearly. I can only hope that all of these beautiful moments can carry you all through these dark times.
Love,
Marissa Avigne

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Patin / Mark & family,
My condolences for your loss. I had the privilege to have known Dwayne since we were small kids at OLPH and even through high school and anyone who met him knew that he was not only a great person but a great friend, a loyal friend, and was always enjoying life. May Dwayne rest in peace and enjoy eternal life with God our Father in Heaven. You all are in my prayers. Thanks for all the joyful memories old friend.

When I think of Dwayne, I think of love. He cared deeply for everyone that was close to him. When I reminisce about growing up with him and Mark My mind races back to swimming in the pool playing games we made up. Making silly home videos, laughing and talking about girls was all we cared about back then.
Even though through the years we lost touch, I hold him so dear in my heart. He was one of my adolescent friends that helped shape the man I am today. Mr. and Mrs. Patin I am so sorry to have to be writing this. As the tears well up in my eyes I pray that Dwayne finds peace in the arms of our father. God bless you Dwayne and I love you Patin family with all my heart.

Dwayne was one of the first friends I made in a new school having moved towns. He was kind and loyal. We spent most days together of the 9 years we went to the same schools.
Life took us separate ways, and we haven’t talked in forever, but some people always hold a place in your heart, and Dwayne is one of those people.
May God give you peace, Dwayne.
We shall miss you.

I've known Dwayne since kindergarten at OLPH. One of the nicest men I've ever met. In all of our old photos, we always seemed to wind up next to each other. I have lots of memories of Dwayne from OLPH. Playing football after lunch, playing basketball, and medical bombardment. All great times. I haven't seen Dwayne but twice since 8th grade and both times it was like no time had passed at all. Still the same funny, nice, and caring guy I grew up with. I'm saddened by the news of his passing but rejoice in the fact that he has gone to be in a better place. Farewell my friend.
