The family of CMS (Ret.) Edward J. Black Sr. are sad to announce his passing on September 3, 2021.
Born August 23, 1934, Ed was one of 10 children born to James Porter Black and Anna Mae (Bowser) Black.
Ed was a 1954 graduate of Nanty Glo (PA) High School and in 1956 he enlisted in the Air Force at Fort McHenry, MD. This began a successful military career that lasted 22 years until his retirement in 1979. After his retirement from the Air Force, Ed began a second career starting with Data Point Corporation, and ending with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1996.
Ed met his wife, Elinor O'Sullivan, in London, where they were married in 1958 and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. He is survived by his sister, Elvietta Alexander, his wife, Elinor, and their 4 children: Edward, Patricia (Ballard), John, and Paul, as well as 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Ed will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a patriot, and loyal friend to those who knew him well.
A visitation for Edward will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A prayer service will occur Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home.
