

Edward Warren Howard, 84, a long-time resident of Live Oak, passed away on December 24, 2017, following a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ellen Joan Howard; his two daughters, Gwen Land (Mark) of Frisco, TX, and Stephanie Rand (Richard) of San Antonio, TX; and one granddaughter, Lenel Land, of Dallas, TX. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marjorie Howard; his brother, Harry Howard; and his grandson, Brandon Land.
Ed served in the Air Force for 27 years and retired at Randolph Air Force Base. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sargent. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Ed worked in the private sector and continued to travel the world. He subsequently retired from National Education Center.
Ed leaves behind a legacy of friendship. His caring and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, on January 8, 2018, at 11:30 AM followed by a service at 12:30 PM. Burial with military honors will be at 2:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Association.
Ed’s friends are welcome to visit with his family during a brief reception at 6406 Royal Ridge, San Antonio, TX 78239, following the burial.
