Ernest GARCIA, beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 88, of Live Oak, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Ernest was born February 26, 1932, in Saltillo, Mexico, but was raised in Galveston, Texas. Ernest was a proud member of the United States Air Force for 23 years. Ernest served in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and closed the base in Libya during his military service. After his retirement, Ernest went on to obtain his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from Southwest Texas State University. He then began his second career as a teacher for the San Antonio Independent School District teaching at Sam Houston High School. He retired from teaching after 17 years. Ernest had a love for dance, travel and adventure. He, and the love of his life, Clara, moved in unison like they were one when they danced. They also traveled the world together. Ernest will be missed greatly by the love of his life, soulmate and wife of 68 years Clara Garcia. Ernest is survived by his six children, Marquita, Ernest, Louis, Lisa, David and Susie and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation with rosary for Ernest will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas. The rosary will commence at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 Evans Road, Selma, Texas. An interment will occur Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, Texas.
