Felipe Campos was born on May 1, 1929 in Bracken, Texas. He joined the Army in 1945 and retired in 1972. He and his wife, Helen and daughter Linda traveled to many duty stations together; stateside and overseas. He served three tours in Germany, 13 months in Thailand, the Philippines, and one tour in Viet Nam.
Felipe began a new career as a civilian after his military retirement. He worked 20 years for Dillard’s and 10 years for San Antonio School District retiring in 2018.
Felipe leaves behind his wife Helen of 69 years, his daughter Linda Sloan and husband Del, two granddaughters Elizabeth McChesney, Jacqueline Murphree, her husband Colt and their son Weston, as well as his brother Felix Escalante, and three sisters Josie Patino, Teresa Gomez and Visenta Morgan.
Felipe touched many hearts he will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
A visitation for Felipe will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 10:30 AM followed by Mass beginning at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 16075 North Evans Rd, Selma, TX 78154. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
