It is with heavy hearts, yet sincere gratitude for a life well-lived, that we remember Gail Harrell. Born on May 5, 1961, in Columbus, Mississippi, Gail’s journey was a gentle ascent to her home in Universal City, Texas, after a raucous time in Hawaii during her teen years. Gail graced the world with her love and laughter until January 30, 2025, leaving us at the age of 63.
Gail was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend; her presence was a beacon of love and nurture. She stepped into adulthood with poise, graduating from Judson High School in 1979. Gail believed in the power of knowledge, and with determination, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas San Antonio in 1994.
Her real adventure began on March 14, 1981, when she married her soulmate, Sid Harrell. Together, their love grew and flourished, creating a vibrant canvas of joy and affection. This union welcomed their cherished daughter, Sydney, who became the living embodiment of their love and dreams.
In Gail, the world witnessed an embodiment of generosity and kindness. Quick with a smile, she had an innate ability to uplift those around her, providing solace and comfort where it was needed most. Her laughter was infectious and her spirit, though strong-willed, was gentle and resilient, and touched everyone who crossed her path.
Gail is survived by her loving husband, Sid, their precious daughter, Sydney, and her grandpuppies, Goose, Sawyer, and Gumbo, who will carry forward her legacy of love and strength. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Violet Harrell, with whom she shared many joyful moments and sister Joan Moore. Preceding her in death were her parents, Dale and Jo Core, whom she fondly remembered as her guiding stars and her adoring companions Goliath and Gracie.
A service to honor her life will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, TX, on March 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. As we celebrate the life Gail lived, let us draw comfort from the words of Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
In this time of reflection, may we carry Gail’s spirit forward, cherished in our memories and actions. Her story lives on within us, as does her unwavering faith. Rest peacefully, dear Gail, in the gardens of our hearts and God’s endless light.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Texas Oncology Foundation in memory of Gail, all donations will assist other cancer patients in the San Antonio area.
