

Gerard “Jerry” Lassus Marroquin,83, of Universal City, Texas passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017. Gerard is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jean Amescua Marroquin; devoted children, Gerard A. Marroquin and wife Julie of Waco and John Marroquin of Universal City; siblings, Lourdes Zamarrόn of Monterrey, Mexico, and Tonie Marroquin of San Antonio; grandchildren, Lauren Able, Christine Capra, Katherine Marroquin, Christian Marroquin, and Andrew Marroquin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ladislado “Lalo” and Aurora Lassus Marroquin and brother Jesse Marroquin.
Gerard was born on October 16,1933 in Mexico City, Mexico to Ladislado and Aurora Marroquin. He was the second of four children. He graduated from high school in Monterrey, Mexico. In 1952, he came to the United States where he joined the United States Air Force and became a US citizen. He served his country for four years. He married his best friend Mary Jean Amescua in1959, after meeting her at a Catholic USO dance. The couple loved to spend their evenings at dances. The couple was blessed with two sons, Gerard Anthony, and John Michael.
Gerard was skilled in electronics and always kept up with the latest technology. He could fix anything. In 1959, he opened his first business, Wizard TV, which ultimately evolved into Ger-Mar Computers. He has served the greater Randolph community for almost six decades.
His family remembers him as a gentle, soft spoken man with a quick wit. Gerard was a lifelong Catholic and a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas. He enjoyed participating in ACTS with his two sons.
The family will receive visitors at 10:30 am, Monday, April 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas, followed by a rosary at 11:30am. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon by Father Eric Ritter and Deacon Louis Heimer. Burial services will be at OLPH Cemetery #2. There will be luncheon and reception to follow at the OLPH Pastoral Center. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gerard’s life.
