

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gisela Altagracia Baldwin, who left this world on November 15, 2025, at Brooke Army Medical Center Joint Base Ft Sam Houston, Texas. Born on September 15, 1947, in Bonao, Dominican Republic, Gisela was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose spirit touched all who knew her.
Gisela was the cherished daughter of Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez, who preceded her in death. Gisela married the love of her life Charles Edward Baldwin on December 28, 1971, in Panama City, Panama. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, creating a family that she adored. They were married for 39 years. He preceded her in death in July 2010.
Her immediate survivors include: Her loving daughter, Carmen Matos (Roberto) and son, Kevin Baldwin; her brother, Benito Dorvil (Griselidis); 2 sisters, Alcimeida Dorvil and Yolanda Rodriguez; 3 sisters-in-law, Elaine Hamilton (Hamp), Johanna Mosley and Rosie Baldwin; 2 grandsons, Carlos Matos and Keviar Baldwin; 2 great grandchildren, KeZiah and Kairo Baldwin. Other survivors include a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Gisela treasured life and family. She married and created a loving home. She held several professions throughout her life. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in Ft Lewis, Washington; Food Service Worker at Smith Middle School in Ft Hood, Texas; and a Decorating Consultant for Home Interiors and Gifts until retiring to take care of her spouse in 2001 and caring for him until his passing in 2010.
Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit and zest for life. Gisela loved cooking, shopping, hosting get-togethers for family and friends and most of all she loved dancing and listening to music.
Her infectious personality and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. She warmed the hearts of those around her, always ensuring that they felt loved.
Gisela’s love for family was unmatched; she built a legacy of compassion and kindness that will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. She was a beacon of light in the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Gisela are invited to come and celebrate a remarkable woman whose love and laughter will resonate for years to come.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, located at 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, Texas 78148. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.
A Final Viewing will held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 10:45 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, with a Reception to follow.
Committal Service will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
