

He went to Brackenridge High school, and at age 16, he enrolled in Louis Barber College, he went during the summers of his sophomore and junior years. At 19, he joined the Navy and served aboard the destroyer USS McDermut during the Korean War, as a Barber. During this time, he met and married his lovely wife Annie Lou in 1955. Over the next 47 years together, they had 4 children. Also after the war, he worked as a Barber alongside his twin brother Harry for over 60 years, includes Fort Sam Houston and Hedrick’s Barbershop, where he retired October 03, 2015 at age 84. He enjoyed spending time with his long time companion Lillian.
He loved to make people laugh at his jokes and pranks, he loved gardening and canning, famous for his Dill Pickles, he made the best brisket and BBQ sauce, he loved hunting and fishing, and loved the Casino slots, especially KENO and playing cards with family and long time companion, Lillian Kotzur.
He loved spending time with family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Harold was predeceased by parents, Stasha and Morda Hedrick; wife, Annie Lou Hedrick; twin brother, Harry Hedrick; sister, Mary Lee Cox; and grandson Brian Mutz.
Survivors are daughters: Valerie and Gilbert Mutz, Converse TX, Donna and Robert Pope, Corsicana TX. sons: Mark Hedrick and Douglas Hedrick, Converse TX, grandchildren: Lee Mutz, Jason Hedrick, Crystal Blair and Candace Hopkins, great-grandchildren: Tristan and Garett Mutz, Raelynn Hedrick and Beckham Hopkins, Companion: Lillian Kotzur.
Visitation will be held from 10:00AM-11:00AM with Funeral service to begin at 11:00AM in the Bluebonnet Hall, followed by a reception in the Magnolia Room from 12:00PM-1:00PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, Texas 78148. Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00PM Monday, October 23, 2023 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #1, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78209
